Perception can be a fickle thing. For it can change depending on the person. Recently, we had a playful debate at our house. What color is our recliner? My husband and I make claim that it is a very dark brown. Our boys adamantly disagree; they make claim that it is black. With my one son agreeing that it does have a slight brown undertone. As humans, there are times where we may see things slightly different. All of us agreeing that we ourselves are correct. Sometimes, if we can’t persuade, we agree, to disagree. This world is filled with opinions and their own ideas, own perspectives. Though as believers, we know that despite the differences that we may have, we can all agree that the Bible holds truth. That Jesus died for us. That God is our creator. That He is good, loving, and full of grace. We can disagree about some things; we can have our own opinions we can have our own perspectives about things. But when it comes to the things that actually matter, may our perception be Christ- minded and we always find our truth, the real truth, in His word. We can disagree about the color of the recliner. We may not always see things exactly the same, as our perception can differentiate for various reasons. However, as long as our thoughts don’t sway from Him, His truth, His word, that’s what’s important. I look over at our recliner; it’s definitely dark brown. But either way, its okay to agree to disagree, there are much more important things.
