I read recently of a young boy that got to choose something great for his, “Make a wish.” For those that may not know, this is essentially an organization that grants wishes to very sick children, to help bring them some much needed joy. So, this sick boy could choose from many things that most children would. Cool toys, gaming consoles, trips. Although he chose to help out those in his community that were in need of food. So, his wish was to feed some of the homeless in his own community. What a beautifully selfless thing to do. Through his own struggle, he put another’s needs before something that could have brought him great joy. Though this boy, found his joy, in caring and loving others well. I think we could all learn something from this boy. We as humans can be so selfish at times. So much so, that we don’t always recognize the needs of others. What’s even more incredible, is he did get better and started an organization that continued to help feed those hungry in his community. This boy has a heart like Jesus. We all should have a heart like Jesus. Always lovingly looking out for one another. I can only imagine the smile on his mama’s face and how proud she was of her boy. Though more than that, God’s smile. May we not just feed the bellies of those in need, but help when, where, and how we can, feeding the hearts of all God’s children. Just as He intended.
