Recently, a young boy was attacked by a shark. He was saved due to the quick and selfless actions of his older brother. By God’s goodness, the boy attacked is expected to make a full recovery and his brother was unharmed. I can only imagine the level of gratitude his parents feel toward their son and God. I also recently read a story that in an earthquake, the mother shielded her newborn baby and saved her baby’s life, giving up her own life. How wonderfully deep is a mother’s love. There is another story where a mom went into a burning house fire, many times, saving all of her children. Leaving her own body burned and then scarred. Though her kids were all okay. The first thing she asked, after being in a coma was, if her kids were okay. This is love. Love at a deep and pure level. It is sacrificing yourself for those you love. Whether risk of injury, injury, and even death. It is valuing another above ourselves. It is a love like Jesus. I think of Him and all He did for us. Jesus died for us when we didn’t even deserve it! That is an incredible way to love! Friend, may we value others above ourselves. May we love like Jesus. I think of all these wonderful people willing and sacrificing themselves for another. What a profound love. I am so grateful that Jesus saved us with His profound love. May we all love so deeply.

Profound love
Philippians 2:3-4 NIV
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
John 15:13 NIV
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
1 John 3:16 NIV
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.
Ephesians 5:1-2 NIV
Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
