Don’t let arrogance become our own

I encountered someone recently that really had me work on my level of grace and how to hold my tongue. This individual I think enjoyed the sound of their voice and thought quite highly of themselves. Ultimately, I let them talk and politely walked away from the conversation as soon as the opportunity arose. I was polite, cordial and kind. Though that wasn’t easy, if I am being honest. Though some people are just like that. They act haughty, and full of themselves. Though it is best to just let them talk and remove ourselves from the conversation. We must not let their arrogance become our own. Their words and actions speak for themselves, and so do ours. May we handle such people with wisdom. I can’t say for sure why some people are the way that they are. Though I can say for sure that God is the judge, we are to be wise and we still need to love them. We don’t have to invite such people over to dinner, but we can most certainly politely dismiss ourselves from such behavior and let God address it. Setting healthy boundaries is always appropriate with such people! Let us keep being who God calls us to be. May we not let their arrogance, cause us to sin. I think of this individual and I don’t know why they behave in the way they do. But I know, I will continue to work on behaving how God wants me to.

Don’t let arrogance become our own

Proverbs 16:18 NIV

Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.

Proverbs 26:4 NIV

Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you yourself will be just like him.

James 4:6 NIV

But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
