Be careful what we hear

It is always so discouraging when what could be a good song, is ruined with bad lyrics. You know the ones where the song has incredible potential and the sound is good and then, it happens. Something in the song goes against our faith. This happened to me recently. Part of the lyrics were so nice and the sound was so pretty and even the chorus was beautiful! Though the words in between had to ruin it all. It’s so easy to sneak sin in. It’s like taking something rotten and placing so many pretty smelling flowers around it. At first, you just see the beauty and the smell hides the stink. Though the closer we get, the more we open our eyes and pay attention, there it is. The rot hiding itself like a trap. Friend, music is a beautiful thing. It can help us through hard times, uplift us in good times, and even help us grow in our faith. But if we’re not careful, it can be like rot. Corrupting us in ways we may not realize. May we be careful and pay attention to what we hear and what we listen to. For the enemy likes to place flowers around corruption. Though music that is truly good, can bring true joy.

Be careful what we hear

Romans 12:2 NIV

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Proverbs 4:23 NIV

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Psalm 19:14 NIV

May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
