The young cashier unenthusiastically tossed my groceries aside and wasn’t overtly friendly. I could have reciprocated the behavior. Though I am learning, why make it worse? So, I was extra friendly and asked how her day was going. Almost immediately her shoulders relaxed and we struck up a small conversation. We kept it positive and before we knew it, we were both happier and my groceries were being handled with more care. This young lady wasn’t rude by nature; she probably just had one of those days where she’d rather be somewhere else. Or maybe she had something hard going on, I am not sure. What I do know though is, sometimes we just need to offer a little extra tender love, and care toward one another. It is better to try to cheer on another, then to make matters worse. We are all human and sometimes have days that maybe aren’t our favorite, for whatever reason it may be. Although God is so very kind to us, even on our not-so-great days, may we offer that same grace, compassion, and love to others. Friend, I know this isn’t always easy and sometimes not our first reaction that comes to mind in these situations. However, I also know a little extra kindness and love goes a very long way. May we love each other enough to just be kind.

Just be kind
Ephesians 4:32 NIV
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Colossians 3:12-13 NIV
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 NIV
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
