Gift of motherhood

I have received many great gifts over the years, though the greatest one was the gift of motherhood. This gift has been my greatest adventure and one filled with tremendous joy. Even through the hard times that can only arise through being called mom. It was this very love that made me better understand the love our Father in heaven has for us. For through the good or the hard, the easy or those challenging moments our kids give us, like God’s love for us, our love remains unwavered and unconditional. However it may be that we may have become a mom, whether biologically or through the gift of adoption, our children truly are treasures. I feel blessed to have two myself and I have two in heaven that I look forward to meeting someday also. I know that when I was a little girl my career aspirations changed many times for my future. Though one thing was for certain, that I wanted to be a mom. I am grateful for this privilege, as I am sure most moms are. Though in the joy of motherhood, I have also been challenged when some situations arose. Though I have always found comfort in being able to go to God and pray or even find guidance in His word, to help me and my children when those challenges came. I know there have been times where my patience has been tested, my children have tested boundaries and although good kids, have made poor choices at times. Though I did not love them less, even through my frustration I have only wanted what’s best for them. Knowing their hearts and who they can be and helping guide them in their becoming. I can see God, as His children, being disappointed too in some of our choices. Though lovingly helping guide us back on the right path. As a mother I walk more with the Lord. I realize my need for Him more. Though I also understand His love better. That unconditional, irrevocable love. I know that God’s love for our children is even beyond our love for them. That is a spectacular love, because I love my children deeply. There are many gifts that we can receive in this life. Though what a gift it is to be called mom. I look at my children and I thank God for them.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you wonderfully loving Mother’s.

Gift of motherhood

Psalm 139:13-14 NIV

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Psalm 127:3 NIV

Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.

Isaiah 66:13 NIV

As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.”

1 John 3:1 NIV

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

Proverbs 31:28-29 NIV

Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”
