When my youngest son was around four or five, I took him and his big brother out to eat at a local pizza place. We enjoyed our pizza and the three of us had a great time. Though as dinner was done and we would be leaving soon, my youngest son did something I won’t soon forget. He all of the sudden got up from the table with his plate in his small hands and headed towards the restaurant’s kitchen. When I asked him where he was going, he innocently replied that he was taking care of his plate. I couldn’t help but to laugh a little and I reassured him that though that was thoughtful, he doesn’t have to do that there. I explained to him that it was a part of the service the restaurant does. Though I couldn’t help but be so proud of him for being so responsible. This sweet gesture of my son, showing his sweet heart and willingness to clean up after himself. We live in a world that doesn’t have accountability or always a willingness to clean up after themselves. Though if my son, being so small then can comprehend how to keep tidy the world around him, surely as adults we can too. Often, my family and I get so frustrated when we see Gods beautiful creation littered with garbage and filth because some people choose to not clean up after themselves. In doing so, not only does it make our world look messy, it is unsanitary and unsafe, especially for all the critters that roam. Friend, God blessed us with this beautiful planet and everything in it. May we clean up after ourselves. I can’t help but think how much more beautiful our world could be, if we all were to take care of it as we should.
