I watched a video of a woman who was very sick, bound to a hospital bed. She didn’t want to fight for her life anymore. She was too tired, too sick, and didn’t want to try any longer. But her husband kept showing up for her; dancing, trying to bring her joy and hope. She didn’t want to fight for her life anymore, so he was fighting for her. Showing up, loving her in her greatest time of need. That very love helped her get through her sickness. Eventually his fight for her, made her want to fight again too. She got better. I don’t know the details of her sickness. But I do know that, that, committed love, helped carry her through her darkest days. Friend, this is a beautiful love. I see God loving us like this, though somehow, even more so. Every day showing up for us. Giving us opportunities for joy and always providing His hope. An unending love. One that pursues us, and fights for us when we can no longer fight for ourselves. Oh, where would we be without that kind of love? Where would we be if we did not have God showing up with His love, every single day for us.
