Praise be to God

God sure works in miraculous, and sometimes mysterious ways. Recently, they replaced the gas lines in my neighborhood. With that being said, the utility company shut off the gas to my house for a few minutes as they installed the new lines. Afterwords, they turned everything back on and relit our furnace and hot water heater. We went about our day and by evening I smelled something smoky. I thought it strange but felt assured all was well. Early the next morning I still smelled smoke, so I called my utility company and within an hour someone was out to inspect things. Come to find out there was a very small gas leak in my hot water heater at the valve of it. This was an immediate risk even as it was a small leak, as it could have become dangerous in an uncertain amount of time, if not fixed. The smell that led to me calling them over, had nothing to do with the leak. But if I hadn’t smelled that smell, I would not have known there was one, until it would have been at a potentially dangerous level. God used something completely unrelated to get a serious issue fixed. Turns out I think some neighbors were having a fire somewhere nearby; it just smelled so strong and only happened after the work on my gas lines that I was concerned that they could be related. I am grateful that I thought they were. For if I hadn’t, I would not have known to call until it was a serious issue. I truly believe that God used it as a way to get me to call the utility company over. Through all of this no harm came from the issue, and things were fixed just in time. God does work in mysterious and wonderful ways. Praise God that He was looking out for us. Friend, God looks out for us so often, I am quite sure even more than we realize, may we give Him praise for it. As I sit writing this, I am in awe of God’s goodness and how He really does do things for our good, praise be to God.
