If worry were a sweater, I’d wear it quite well
It would hug itself around my heart
Where fear was hiding, one could tell
It would be on display to show all that I do lack
It would be awfully heavy
Like fear gripping on my back
If worry were a sweater, it would be an ugly one indeed
And like wearing it in summer
More than what I need
If worry were a sweater, it would surely reveal
How very uncomfortable it is
For I would hate the way it did feel
If worry were a sweater, it would be one that’s surely torn
One I wish I didn’t put on
And that was never worn
If worry were a sweater, it would be one I choose not to wear
Instead, I would go to God
And pray He helps me with my fear
If hope were a sweater, it would be the best I ever saw
Close to my heart, with warmth
Knowing God’s love comforts us all
