A man wore worn shoes and cheap clothing. He lived with frugality and humbly. He did all of this, despite making pretty decent money. He even inherited a lot of money, though still lived as though he had little. Years later the man would pass away, leaving millions to different charities that he believed in. Secretly, he had been saving with the intention of helping others with it, especially vulnerable children. Such a beautiful act of generosity, kindness, and love. In our culture today many people love to show themselves giving, and even showing the faces of those they give to. Almost as if doing it for validation and ego, instead of true genuine love. Now there may be some that do it to maybe encourage others to help others too. But sometimes it’s easy to wonder the intention behind the act. Friend, may we give without calling out the receiver, may we give quietly with a genuine heart, may we give selflessly. May we give like Jesus, fully, without attention on self but love as the intention. This man could have had more, though gave himself less, to love another. That’s pretty great, that’s the Jesus way.
