I read something today about a man, when he was a teenager, had made a poor choice. He went to a party, decided to get drunk, and found himself in a morally compromising place. He called his mom to get him, as he knew that he needed to get out of that situation. His mom immediately said that she was on her way and picked him up shortly after. Nothing much was said about the whole ordeal. Just that the mom told him to drink some water before heading to bed. The next day the mom went about things normally. She knew, as did her son, that he made a mistake. But he also did the next best thing, to call on his mom and leave. The man thought back to that time and realized his mom was just so happy that he called out to her. The mom would later validate his understanding. She just was happy that he called her. This is so relatable as humans, as sinners. We all have fallen short; we have all sinned in one way or another. Though when we call out to God, He’s always right there. Though we may be held accountable for our choices, God very much lovingly forgives us and happily celebrates when we call out to Him. This is love. The mom was disappointed, though the son was also in himself. Though the mom didn’t immediately start condemning him, she came to his rescue. This making the boy feel safe to be open and call out to his mother for help. Just like we can always openly, safely and honestly come before God. He is always there for us, to rescue us, and help us get right back on the right path. Friend, may we always remember we can go to God, even if we mess up. In fact, that’s the best call to make, the call out to God. Just like this mother who didn’t start criticizing, she just came. God always comes to us, who call out to Him. This man remembered this part of his life so much, because his mother’s action of love. May we always remember God’s.
