Sacrifice

So many are celebrating today for Memorial Day.  Picnics, grilling out and get togethers. Many people even go camping. These are all great things! Though as we celebrate, we must remember those who passed away fighting for these very freedoms, and even our lives. Today is a mixed day between sadness and joy. Sadness for those who gave their lives, though joy in what they gave through it; freedom, and even life. I think of Jesus too how He died for us all. To save us and give us life. To give us freedom from sin, when we so ask, He washes it away. Friend, what a beautiful thing. To love so much, you’re willing to die for them. Today as we all celebrate, may we pause to remember those whom gave their lives so we can have ours. May we also reflect on what Jesus did on that cross to save us.  Sacrificing one’s life for another, what a godly way to love.

I hope you find joy this Memorial Day, although also, gratitude.

Sacrifice

John 15:13 NIV

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Philippians 2:3-4 NIV

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

John 3:16 NIV

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
