New Year

It’s a new year today. Many people are setting goals that they hope to accomplish. Though often the responses of these goals are physically or worldly things that they would like to acquire; buy a house, a car, pay off debt. Or whatever it may be… Though depending on the goal, those are not bad goals to have; seldom however, is mentioned that one hopes to grow more in their faith. Though we should be doing that every day, I am saddened about how little this is a goal in so many people’s lives.

Friend, I do not know what your goals are. Although, I hope that somewhere at the very top of your list, is your wanting to grow deeper in your faith. For with each passing year is a huge reminder of how fleeting time is. Yes, having a resolution to be healthy, look forward to the future or pay off debt and so on may be valuable goals. They are all things that we cannot take with us, when our time is up. So go ahead and set those goals, but in doing so, I encourage you to add one more resolution at the very top; to love and walk with God more than you ever have!

Friend, for the most valuable goal we can ever have, is having a relationship with God. May we make this a top priority this year and always. For that is something that will not only help us here, but allow for the privilege and blessing in eternity someday with the creator, whom created time itself. Get right with God friends, there is no other resolution, more important!

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
