Love like the Lord

When people act quarrelsome

And you try so hard not to sin

But people keep testing

And you feel you can’t win

Some people are just unkind

For reasons we may never understand

Though somehow God asks us

To also love them

How God, please tell us how

We can love those who mean to do wrong

Oh God teach us how

To do right and stand strong

For it is so hard to do

When there is such people as these

Who act without love

And just do as they please

God help me to love everyone

Even those that make it hard to do

Help me Lord

To love like you

Love like the Lord

Luke 6:35-36 NIV

But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

Matthew 5:44-45 NIV

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

1 John 4:19-21 NIV

We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

Colossians 3:13 NIV

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Matthew 22:37-39 NIV

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
