We need our Savior

When I was young, I thought I was so grown

Thought I had figured it out

As I paved a way on my own

But there was much life taught me along the way

Like how I need my Savior

Every single day

For a while I had taken my own path to trod

I had forgotten

How much I needed God

I did not see things the way I do now

Yet God made a way

For me somehow

I wanted to spread my own wings

To have it my own way

And do my own things

I didn’t realize my need for God you see

I just worried about

Myself, I, and me

It wasn’t all from my parents, family, or a friend

Where I realized in my brokenness

My need for Him

I know, now, in life we cannot do it on our own

We need to walk with God

For He is our home

We need Him more than anything

Now that I know this

He’s become my everything

He is our hope, our saving grace

He’s what we need always

As we navigate this place

We need Him in all ways, this I have come to find

We truly need our Savior

All the time

Throughout time, it became clearer to see

How much I need Him

To walk with me

Now I know, as my faith has grown

I realize we cannot do life

On our own

Everywhere, every stage, every age, in which we trod

We mustn’t do

Life without God

I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Acts 17:28 NIV

‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’

Psalm 63:1 NIV

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.

Psalm 42:1-2 NIV

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.
