Lately, where I live, due to forest fires from a neighboring country, smoke has been drowning out our blue skies, thickening the air with particles we shouldn’t breathe in and leaving a smell that steals away the scent of fresh air. We have been advised to stay inside and avoid it as much as possible. Many of us have been cooped up, though fortunately for those of us with them, our air conditioners running full speed and, if possible, air purifiers on as well. Though my heart goes out to those without these options and those that are homeless. Also, those in the direct line of fire that are being affected. Going outside or completely avoiding it, isn’t always possible for everyone. In such instances, we just do our best and pray. Although I do also hope that the homeless are finding safety during this time especially. We can’t always help what is going on around us or the situations that are beyond our control, that we find ourselves in. Though we can do the best that we are able, with what we are given. Also, it is an opportunity to trust God more and lean into Him and His plan. I am not sure when the fires will consistently calm, the ash will settle, and we can all breathe in fresh air again. I do not know when we can look at the sky and see the pretty fluffy blue clouds and we can be out in it to fully enjoy it. I do not know when all of this will fully end and continue to improve. Though I do know, maybe we can’t perfectly tame the fires that we want to, though God can and is still in control. Maybe we can’t take a deep breath outside right now, but we can inside where it is safe, and we can breathe just knowing that God is still good, still kind, and always faithful. I look out my window and the sun is still trying to shine through the ash and I know soon, she will again.
