Work hard for the Lord

While my husband and I were coming home from the store recently, we passed two young siblings in their front yard. They were proudly selling their homemade lemonade. As I saw them there, they were ever so patient for someone to stop and support their little business. I am unsure how many people did, but they still sat there and wore their smiles and proudly waited. I was happy to see these two little ones working hard, the best they could, for being so young. Now to be honest, there are adults in our world that put forth less effort. Some of us have been called to work in the work force, whether working for ourselves or someone else. Some of us have been called to be strictly homemakers. Some have been called to be missionaries. Whatever it may be, God has called us all to something; using whatever gifts He has given us. Maybe He calls us to different things at different times. I don’t see these kids selling lemonade all their lives, but right now they have been called to it. Offering smiles, refreshing lemonade, and learning hard work, and maybe patience too. Although whenever and whatever we are called to, it’s important that we work hard at it, as if doing it for the Lord. I hope those siblings did well in their little business today. I hope that anything that we all do, we do it well, as if working for the Lord.

Work hard for the Lord

Colossians 3:23-24 NIV

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
