I needed a time out. Not because I was in trouble, but because I didn’t want to be. I knew that I needed a minute to cool down and process my thoughts and my big feelings. For it is wiser to walk away, gain our composure, and spend some time with God before reacting with pure emotion. So, there I sat, my headphones on, as relaxing music played gently in my ear and I spent some time with God. I ate some spree candy and took my time out. My animals even joining me for a bit. It is hard not to react in the moment when we are upset. Although through experience and admittingly, I am still learning this at times, it is so much better to take a cool down. A time out, and time with God, to really process how to move forward with wisdom and not just emotion. This can be hard at times, for it can be hard to hold our tongue, our words. Though wisdom can take something hard, and soften it with love, and therefore leading to a better outcome, one not filled with sin. Friend, when our frustrations, our anger, or are emotions are too high, may we take our time out. Time to just breathe, to process, to be wise, and most importantly, time with God; His word and in prayer. I will address the issue that upset me when I am ready, but when I do, I will be better equipped and wisely so, to do so. I sat alone, eating maybe far too many spree candies, with the sun beaming through my window. I am grateful to God for my little time out. For time outs are a great time to step away when we need to, and step into a little more time with God.
