On my night stand sits my Bible. Like a security blanket near to me as I sleep. As a reminder of the closeness of God. His words holding power within its pages reminding me of His promises, His comfort, His guidance and His hope. As it sits near me, like a shield from anything in this world that could cause harm to my body, my mind, my heart, my soul. There truly is power in His word. How blessed are we to be able to hold His word in our hands. I think often we forget its significance, its importance. Then something may happen in our life, and we dust off our Bible being reminded of the treasure that it is. The significance within in its pages. We often reach for our phones, our television remotes or our favorite books. Though not near enough do we reach for the very most important thing we can have; God’s word. Friend, with all of our distractions in the world, may we not be distracted from God and His word. May we reach for His word, no matter how our life is going. May we read it in the good, the bad and the in-betweens. May we hold the words within its pages close to our heart as we navigate life. May we not ever forget the value of His word, as the most important thing we will ever read. My Bible sits beside me, waiting to be read. I know that if I do, it is there where I will find everything I am looking for.

His word
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Hebrews 4:12 NIV
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Joshua 1:8 NIV
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Psalm 119:105 NIV
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
