“Jesus wept.” The very shortest scripture verse in the Bible. Yet, there is such heaviness and meaning behind it. Jesus came as a man and felt the pain of this world. He empathized with the heartache and the hurt. Yes, even Jesus cried. It truly is okay to cry. I heard a saying, I believe it came from a song, that tears are a language that God understands. Recently a child in my area had her life taken too soon, from someone who was supposed to protect her. Though I knew her not I couldn’t help but to cry. I just talked to God and as I did, I made well aware that I knew there is goodness here, though there’s also so much hurt in this world too. I thought God must cry a lot for His children. Then I thought, that’s why He sent His son to die for us, so we can be with Him someday. So, we can have His true hope and be with Him. For He loves us so very much. This world has beauty in it, for God is with us here too. Though it also has sin and in that, pain and hurt. My heart has felt a little heavier today and many tears from me and so many others were shed for this precious little girl. I imagine that God wept alongside us too. But there is peace where there is God. There is solace in His promises. Where there is empathy and love there is still hope for this hurting world. Friend, sometimes when we haven’t quite found the words it’s ok just to cry. God hears it. May He comfort hurting hearts, grieving hearts, heavy hearts. May we remember as we weep, our tears are heard and He will comfort those in need. May we hold onto the hope of heaven when this world is so in need of God.
