We live in an entitled world. Recently at work we had a client that came in frustrated at us, because he wasn’t given a coupon. Though coupons are nice, we aren’t owed them. They are a blessing when we get them. There are also many people in our society who don’t want to work as hard as others, even though they are able-bodied, yet wants handouts. Or is angry at those that do work hard, for making more. Even though those people are putting in more effort. I’m sure I could go on, but I will leave it there. Many people in our society believe that they are owed anything and everything good. Though the thing is, we are owed nothing. Unless we worked for it. Anything good beyond that, is a blessing and an act of grace. Friend, may we not stay in step with the world and its vanity, its ego, its selfishness. May we work as hard as we are able, wherever God calls us, as if doing it for the Lord. May we not think that the world revolves around us. May we praise God for our blessings and His kindness and His grace. For when we can better see that the world doesn’t revolve around us, we can better see all in which we’ve already been given. May we not be entitled, but instead, grateful.
