My husband walked past a man once, although we are not so certain that he wasn’t an angel. It was at a point in our marriage where we were trying to buy a house and start that new chapter of our lives. We had a little issue along the way and we were stressed. Although just when we needed to hear it, there were special words said to my husband that assured us that everything was going to work out. As my husband walked into the bank this older gentleman was leaving. The man stopped as they held the door open for each other. My husband and this kind stranger made eye contact in a brief, but special shared moment. The man kindly said to my husband, something like this; “that something good is going to happen to you in the future.” Then the encounter was over and the man left the building. My husband walked off with a sense of peace over him. He later excitedly called me to share this special experience with me. For he was confident that, that, was just what we needed to hear. For the man’s sentiments, now had echoed in both of our hearts. We knew that something good was going to happen. For this was a reminder of God’s faithfulness and plans for our lives. Shortly after, our house was officially ours.
Sometimes when things get stressful, we start to worry and not trust God. We think of the what ifs or we overthink with our fears. Instead of trusting that with God, there are good things for us in our future. Even if whether things happen the way that we had hoped for or not. Friend, for when we have God looking out for us, something truly good is going to happen in our future. For God is our hope in our future; both here, now, and forever.
This man’s kind words came to my mind today. For his words, echo what the Bible teaches. For something good is going to happen to us in our future. For if we have God, we have His hope, in what our future holds. Maybe he was just a kind old man that God used or maybe, just maybe, he was an angel. To my husband and I though, his words were a reminder of God’s faithfulness.
