God answers prayers sometimes in a different way than what we would like. Though that does not mean that our prayers were not answered. For He sees, what we cannot. He knows, what we do not. His plans and His purpose are bigger than our wants. Though we don’t always understand or comprehend; we can rest assure that He knows.
For two and half years my husband and I tried for a baby. A few weeks ago, we found out that we were expecting. We were all so very excited. We prayed so hard that God would keep our baby healthy. God answered, but differently than we had hoped. His answer for keeping our baby healthy, was taking our baby home to be with Him. This was not what we meant, but He knows something we do not. Through our grief, we are trusting in His answer.
Sometimes when we pray, we expect to get exactly what we want. Sometimes we do, at times He even gives us more than we asked for! Sometimes though, His answer is different than we expected. However, not a single prayer is not heard. He answers in his way. A way that is for our good. Even if it doesn’t always feel good in the moment.
Through our grief, we are choosing to place our hope in Him and His plan. Friend, prayers are not a guarantee that we will get what we want, just that He will give us what we need. We must trust God with His answers, knowing He knows them all and that He wants what is truly best for us.
Through our grief, God will carry us. Even as our tears fall, we hold tight to His purpose. Though His answers may not be ours, they are His and that’s enough for me. For He knows what is best and I will hold onto His hope through His differently answered prayers.
