I love watching my children be helpers. Whether that be at home or when we are out and about. From helping with household chores, carrying groceries, getting my car unstuck from being stuck in the snow and holding the doors for myself and others. Often, they go out of their way just to hold a door for a stranger. Even if their hands are full, they still offer to hold a door. My oldest has been even known to put grocery carts away that others chose not to do as well. Every time I see them helping me or anybody, my heart is filled with joy. For their actions are truly Christ-like and though they make mistakes and are not perfect kids, their good ones. Ones with helpful hands and a servant’s heart.
Friend, we live in a very self-absorbed world that does not always think about helping others. May we raise our children to be thoughtful and considerate. May we encourage them when they are. May we also set the tone for positive behavior. For if we are to be like Christ, may we also show love and care for one another. For a heart that takes the time to be compassionate and thoughtful; is a heart that is living with a love as called.
Honestly, is it not wonderful when someone reaches out their hand to offer some kindness? We sure need more in today’s world.
