Grateful for whom matters most

The other day we celebrated Christmas at our house with some family. Our kids were gifted some great gifts and were very appreciative and grateful. Although when devotional time came and we talked about our blessings of the day; they both talked about the quality time spent with our loved ones. They did not mention the gifts, although they liked them. For it was less about the material, and more about the togetherness.

Friend, the fact that my children found their joy in time spent with loved ones more that anything, filled my heart with joy. For we live in such a material world. It is okay to be excited about special gifts and it is always good to be grateful for all the blessings that He gives us. However, we must not value things, over people.

Friend, in a world that is so caught up in possessions, may we be captivated by things money cannot buy. Like our faith and our loved ones. For the love in which is received from God and loved ones, is a priceless gift; one in which we must cherish most!
