Train up a child…

Children look up to us. How we live our lives matters. They will often try to mirror the choices that we make. When we do something foolish, they see that. When we do something good, they see that too. Being a parent or caregiver is like being a celebrity, to the children that hang onto everything that we do. We can bring our children shame or we can inspire them positively. They look up to us, what are our choices showing them? God leads us, His children; inspiring us and showing us the way, in which we should live. Though we have the choice on whether to look up to Him. If we really want our children to look up to us, and most importantly God; then it is of utmost importance that we look to God in everything that we do. Every choice that we make. The music that we listen to, the movies and shows that we watch, the company that we keep and the way in which we speak. We must live our lives like our children are watching, as they truly are. As is God. What direction are we leading our children? We will make mistakes, for we are human. Though we must strive, with God’s help, to be the best people that we can be. Though our children are given free choice as well, just as we all are as God’s children. Like how God leads us in the right path, we too, are leading our children. We must equip them with what that looks like. The best thing we can do is to teach our children to have faith in God and how to live, by how we live. Friend, I tell you this because I examine my own behavior every day; as I want my children to stay on the right path. I pray you do too. For the path of true life is not paved with selfishness and sins temporary pleasure; it is paved with a true relationship with God and a path toward righteousness.

  1. I agree. Too many parents are failing their children in this regard. No wonder society has seen an increase in violence among young people. We must never fail to teach our children Godly principles and hold them accountable when they do wrong.
