God is good

As most of you know, my husband and I were involved in a car accident this past Saturday night. Due to it being so dark out we couldn’t fully tell the extent of the damage to our car and the full seriousness of it all. Though today the sun was shining bright and we headed off to go see the damage done at the tow yard. Upon first seeing our car, I think we both felt a little shook up. Our car was clearly totaled and was pretty beat up in the front. As we took pictures and examined everything, it felt a little emotional. Not just from losing a car we really liked either. It’s that we know things could have been so much worse. As I stood looking inside the shattered glass everywhere and the windshield completely broken, I was amazed. For there were no cuts and scratches, despite us both being covered in glass. There was also no bruising, despite the whole ordeal. The air bag did not go off, despite the speed of travel and impact with the deer. In this situation, we praise God it did not go off. Though I will confess, we have some soreness, it could have been so much worse. God is so good. Yes, we are currently without a car as we await the next step with insurance. However, our hearts are so grateful for how things happened, knowing how they could have been. Friend, we could complain that it happened. We could complain about the loss of our car. Though instead, we are left in awe of God’s protection, His goodness. As it is said, “Cars are replaceable, people are not.” As we look at the pictures, though there is sadness, there is a whole lot of praise. We are ok and God truly is good.

God is good

Psalm 23:6 NIV

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
