We say that we would do anything for our children; but are we? Are we teaching them the very most important thing; to know and walk with the Lord? Feeding, providing, keeping them safe, warm, happy and healthy and things of the like are essential and very important. Although, most importantly, we have to start with a firm foundation, and that is teaching them about God, His word, and how to walk with Him. I am not a perfect mom by any means, I make mistakes like the rest of us. Though I love my children with my whole heart and I do everything I can to nurture their faith; along with my husband. We also have to, as parents, set the example. We can’t tell our kids one thing and then do another. Honestly, some of the things I get after my children for, they learned from me. Our children watch our behavior and we have to set that example. While also teaching them grace when they make mistakes, as we as parents do too. As we all need forgiveness, and we all need Christ. I had to apologize to my youngest son actually just today. He sweetly forgave me. We must apologize when we make mistakes, as it also lets our children know that though we are human, we must be accountable for when we do. I am learning through each chapter of my children’s lives how to best parent them. Though if the one thing I do best is to teach them to know, love, and walk with the Lord, then I will feel like I truly gave them the best thing that I could. Our children’s faith is the most important thing here on earth as they navigate life. But also, so they have the hope of heaven someday. May we love them so much that we show them who God is and how to walk with Him. For if we say we would do anything for them, are we teaching them about the Lord? For doing so, is the most loving act we can offer them. It is almost devotional and Bible reading time as I write this, and I am so grateful for this bedtime routine and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
2 Timothy 3:14-15 NIV
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 NIV
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
