Recently, in my home state, some devastating tornadoes went through destroying many homes and buildings. Worse of all, a few people passed away while many others were injured. I don’t even want to imagine the devastation that they are experiencing. Many without homes, business impacted, and those who are hurting and those in which are grieving. Sometimes we wonder why God allows for such things to happen. Although, I am reminded that we live in a broken and sinful world. He allows things to happen I am sure for many reasons, whether or not we always completely understand the why. Though I have witnessed beauty come through storms. I have seen neighbors, strangers, and loved ones come together in unity to support, care, and help rebuild. I have watched love drawn out in action. I know that communities have been rebuilt stronger than even when they first began. People have realized through these hardships the need for God. Maybe some that haven’t prayed in some time, find themselves on their knees talking to God. In the destruction that comes from storms, or natural disasters, we can be reminded of the hope, beauty and the perfection of heaven, and most importantly, being with our Lord someday. Though we hate the damage that falls in the path of such destruction, we can find love in its path like redemption. May we hang tight to God through it all, may we go to Him in prayer. Let us not forget to help one another, with love in action, when such hardships strike. For it is in moments when the storms come, we can see love shine through in others and God’s love shine through despite it all.

Love through the storms
Psalm 23:4 NIV
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Isaiah 61:3 NIV
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.
