Purpose of life

Who do we go to when we’re upset, mad, angry, hurting, sick, hopeful, joyful, full of praises, excited, celebration and the like? Those of us who are believers, will typically go to God. We will talk to Him in prayer knowing He is God. He is good and He is capable, loving, kind and has it all in His hands. He is our Comforter, our Friend, our Deliver, our Father, our Creator. Yet, it occurred to me that when many of us talk about heaven, being with God as the best thing about it is seldom on the top of the list, if even at all. We talk about the goodness, relief and peace of heaven. We talk of seeing loved ones. Streets of gold. So many wonderful things about heaven. Yet, we forget to mention the most important part of heaven, being with God. We miss the whole point. Yes, those other things are great, but being with God is the most special part, the whole purpose of heaven. We go to Him here wanting, asking, hoping. Yet, are our hearts desiring heaven to actually be with Him someday? It is so great to talk to God in prayer here, just imagine how wonderful it will be to be with Him someday! If we have a true relationship with God, our hearts will desire being with Him now, and later. Heaven seems to have become a selfish plight. It’s about the me and the wants, not about being with God. Friend, we must ask ourselves what our intentions with God are. We go to Him and pray often, but are we truly having a relationship with Him? When we think of heaven, where do our intentions lie? May we seek God both now and forever; for He truly is the purpose of life.

Purpose of life

Romans 11:36

For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

Revelation 3:20 NIV

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Matthew 7:21-23 NIV

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

John 14:2-3 NIV

My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
