Honor our spouses

My husband, I see him, I see how hard he works to provide for our family. I know there are days where he is tired, but yet, he still keeps going. Ensuring our family is taken care of. He works so hard, so I can be home caring for our children, our family, our animals, our home. I appreciate all that he does for us. I appreciate him. I remember years ago working with some women that constantly disrespected their husbands. It was hard to be around them. They were constantly spending money behind their husbands back, like it was an amusing game. They looked at men in ways that were inappropriate. They talked badly of their husbands, things that should have been private matters. They acted in ways, that left me feeling bad for their spouses. Now, I can’t speak for their spouse’s behavior, but I know that those are behaviors that are detrimental to a marriage. It goes both ways as well. My husband has told me how some men he knows, disrespect their wives and how he hates to see it. In no way is my marriage with my husband perfect. Though we do strive to respect, value, and appreciate one another. If we say we love our spouses we have to ask ourselves always in how we react with them, “is this behavior truly being loving, as God has called me to be towards my spouse?” I have been humbled too, when I caught myself being a little too hard on my husband. I have to keep myself in check sometimes too, as does my husband. Friends, our spouses are gifts from God. May we honor and cherish them the way that God calls us to. For in doing so, our marriage, our family, our home, our life and our love, becomes so much better.
