Seasons

Wintertime and fresh fallen snow. Sledding and snowmen. Oh, and Christmas time! I love the way that those Christmas lights shine, lighting up the room in a luminous glow. I love the semi cluttered rooms filled with Christmas decor and the smell of pine lit candles. Although when the Christmas season ends, I’m ready for the next. Before long I will eagerly look forward to spring and the smell of fresh fallen rain and flowers that grow after the long winter. Then summer will come and pool days and fun outside adventures will await. Then there will be fall with the beautiful colors kissing the trees. My birthday. Each season bringing its own sense of beauty. Even though each season also has its hard. The occasional bitter cold and bad roads in the winter. The occasional overabundance of rain in the spring. The sometimes too hot days of summer. The massive leaves to clean or the shorter days that start in the fall. Though through it all, every season has its own purpose and its own beauty with it. Like in life, we go through seasons. Some are harder than others, though with God’s grace and His love, there is beauty to be found through all of them. Each season serving a purpose. Each season offering something different than the last. I pray that whatever season that we are in, we can see God’s goodness through all of it. Friend, may we see the lights in the winter, the flowers in the spring, the fun adventures in the summer and the beauty that graces the trees in the fall. For God places beauty in every season, and even when it’s hard we can hang tight to His hope in the next one to come. All the while trusting His purpose in it all.

Seasons

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 NIV

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, time for war and a time for peace.
