The presents surrounded our Christmas tree
While the stockings hung so heavily
Oh, what joy and fun to be had Christmas morn
But did we forget in Whom was born
Distracted by presents its hard not to be
Though did we forget the nativity
For away in a manger, there He laid
Salvation arrived on that first Christmas day
The greatest gift to have ever received
Was the gift that we all would need
Shopping stores sales all went up galore
While people shouted for more, for more
Trying to replace what’s already been done
The greatest gift of God’s only Son
No amount of presents or money can by
No matter how much, though many do try
To make Christmas something it’s not
The world forgets what it’s been taught
It’s not about presents that sit under a tree
It’s a gift of salvation offered to you and to me
Presents are a blessing on Christmas morn
But the greatest of all is that Christ was born
