We sat gathered around my living room. Grandma, Grandpa, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Siblings, my kids, my husband, the whole lot of us sat and talked amongst each other, with smiles stretched out wide; family time. We all ate too much food, put away far too much sweets and desserts, and we laughed a bunch together. I sat back and watched my oldest planning shenanigans with his cousin. Meanwhile my youngest played some trivia with some other cousins, and I got to hold my great nephew in my arms and giggle at his sweet, little, smile. My husband stood catching up with his brother, while balled up wrapping paper got tossed to and from around at people from the littles. So much fun was going on around me and I was grateful to be in the middle of it all. These are moments that I know will be cherished memories as we all age through the years, every time new ones being created. So, I sat and took it all in, and I am grateful to God for it all. When we said our goodbyes at the end of the evening, I was already missing them. For what great joy it is to be surrounded by them all. For loved ones are a blessing from God and family time something to be treasured. Friend, whether family or friends that feel like family, may we praise God for them. May we take the time and spend it with them well.
