“Mom, are you there?” When I was a little girl, I was really shy and pretty attached to my mom. If she were in another room where I couldn’t directly see her, I’d ask that question aloud, just so I knew that she was near. For knowing that she was, made me feel safe. Of course she would always reply back, that she was there and wouldn’t leave me. Now as I have grown throughout the years, I don’t ask her that question anymore. Although, I’m still slightly shy and still need her. Although these days it’s more like asking, “God, are you there?” For every time I talk to Him, it’s like I can feel that He is. That, makes me feel safe in this world that can be crazy and uncertain at times. I know that He speaks through His word. I know that I can feel His nearness in prayer. And just like I knew that my mom was there for me, I know that God is too. Friend, may we remember if we ever catch ourselves asking, “God, are you there?”, the answer is always yes. Yes, He is always there for us. He will not leave us, nor abandon us. I close my eyes and I think of Him and it is as though I can hear Him say, “I’m here for you and I won’t ever leave you.”
