The spouse that God has called us to be

My husband worked a long shift and still came home looking for projects to help our family. I could hear him in our garage working. The air was cold, yet, it didn’t stop him from doing what needed to be done. I could hear him cutting up wood for our fireplace. He knows I love a good relaxing fire on a cold day. He also wanted to be prepared if ever there is a time we need it if the power were to go out and it were our only source of heat. Both in preparation and love he just sat there, bit by bit, cutting up that wood. I admire him for being the man that God has called him to be. In today’s world not near enough men, act like the men that God has called them to be. From caring for their family with love, working hard to provide, honoring and cherishing their wives, raising up their children in partnership with their wives and especially, leading their wives in children in their faith and in scripture. Finding a good, godly man in today’s world can be difficult when more men walk with the world and don’t walk with God. I have found that the more my husband acts like the man that God designed him to be, the more I respect him and want to be the best wife I can for him. Friend, God has given both husbands and wives different callings to lovingly care for each other and their family. Men, be the man God has called you to be. In turn, women, may we be the wives God has called us to be. For though no marriage is perfect, its always going to be so much better when we walk with God, and walk into the roles that God has called us to be as spouses.

The spouse that God calls us to be

Ephesians 5:25 NIV

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her

Ephesians 5:28 NIV

In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

Proverbs 18:22 NIV

He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.

Proverbs 12:4 NIV

A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.

Proverbs 31:27 NIV

She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

Proverbs 31:10-12 NIV

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
