In His loving embrace

On my way out the door the other day, my dog got quite distracted. A little squirrel had caught her attention and off she went into the neighbors’ woods. Meanwhile, I was left chasing her barefoot calling her name to come back to me. After some persuading and I think her tiring herself out, she finally did. She knew that she had made a poor choice and was acting quite ashamed of herself. Though I was frustrated at her for running off, I was so grateful that she came back to me. It got me thinking that sometimes we run from God; whether that be distracted by worldly things or losing our way. Though God is always calling us back to Him. Though He may be disappointed in us, He is always happy when we turn back to His loving embrace. Friend, may we stay centered on God, always. Though if we find ourselves running away from Him, may we stop and know that no matter how far we go, God is always ready to receive us back in His loving arms. Or maybe even if we have loved ones that we see running away from God, may we not give up on them either. Instead, may we pray they turn back to Him. For just as I was so joyful to have my dog safely home, God so very much wants our hearts and our minds safely home with Him.

In His loving embrace

Isaiah 55:6-7 NIV

Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
