My boys and I went on a field trip the other day. It was a lot of fun. I wanted my boys to have a little souvenir to take home with them. Now when they were little the things they used to pick out were toys, little trinkets, or stuffed animals. Now, their ideas of souvenirs have changed, quite a bit. My oldest, a teenager now, went home with hot sauce. My youngest, a preteen, wanted a cup for his souvenir. Although those were pretty neat finds, there was a part of me that longed for the days they went home with neat little toys and sweet stuffed animals. Though they’re growing up now and daily in some way or another, I am reminded of this. Time flies by quicker than I imagined it would. I look at pictures of them from even a few years ago and their faces are maturing; they’re getting taller and they’re becoming their own people. I am enjoying watching them grow, though there are those times where I miss their littleness. Maybe they don’t pick out toys and teddy bears, but they pick out things that show their personality and what they like and that’s pretty great too. Friend, I’m sharing this with you, because time is a treasure and we don’t always take the time to appreciate what it gives us. God has blessed us with special people in our lives. He has given us time with them. May we treasure it. May every moment be soaked up like a souvenir in our hearts. Keeping it with us, always. For what a blessing our loved ones are from God. Let’s enjoy them.

Psalm 39:4-5 NIV
“Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure.
