As I’m writing this, I’m thinking about when my boys were really little. The three of us would snuggle up and I would tell them bedtime stories. I’d make them up as I went along, occasionally they’d add their own parts to it. Sometimes I’d even have them pick a theme or I’d pick one that would maybe relate to what was going on in our life. A creative way to teach a lesson or make sense of their world. Those cherished moments are forever etched into my heart. Though as they have gotten older, those bedtime stories are no longer. However, those memories remain cherished as special, sacred, moments. These days our beloved bedtime stories have become devotionals consisting of life lessons, bits of wisdom, and Bible reading. As we do our blessings of the day every evening, their blessings share with me a window of what is most special in their lives at that very moment. Reminding us all of something to be grateful for every day. Every year new memories are created, changing as they grow. I hope someday when they become men, we will still have moments to be treasured, for they are my treasure and I am tremendously grateful to God for them. Friend, if you have children whether grown, or still growing up, I think most of us can agree on the sacredness of moments spent with them. They grow up fast, we grow older and time swiftly passes. May we cherish all the stages, all the moments that God gives us. Whether our children are still very young or grown up; may we love them well. For they truly are a blessing and a gift from God Himself.
