Teach in the way of Christ

I’m going to say something that is not of popular opinion in today’s culture. This is not just based on my opinion; it is also Biblical. It is not cute when you encourage and laugh at your child’s bad behavior. Such as, swearing, dressing inappropriately and allowing them to listen and watch things that quite frankly, even adults shouldn’t watch or listen to. This is said out of love. Exposing our children to things that will hinder their relationship with God doesn’t ever do them any good. I see a lot of young girls wearing clothing that is anything but modest. Not a way daughters should learn their self-worth and definition of beauty. Even our sons from young ages are not being encouraged on how to grow up to be men. We will always make some form of mistake as a parent, as we are not perfect. The problem is, is when bad behavior isn’t looked at as bad or is even encouraged. Halloween for instance I see so many children dressed as characters of evil nature and so many people saying that it is cute. There is nothing cute about evil and encouraging such opens pathways you may not even see towards destruction. There is a popular artist, I won’t say her name, where many parents encourage their children to listen to her music. I would strongly encourage parents, to listen to the lyrics. Same goes for movies or even TV shows. When we allow our children to listen and watch such things, it’s like feeding their brains poison and normalizing sin. I am not a perfect parent. Although I do my best to lead them in His way. At the end of the day, that’s all that we can do. Though there are so many in today’s society that normalize things that separate us and our children from God. The excuse is that its innocent, it doesn’t matter, they know right from wrong so who cares. The thing is it does matter what we put into our thoughts. Especially our children’s. Friend may we be careful not just in our own lives, but especially our children’s lives. May we not lead them into sinful culture, but in the ways of Christ.
