Loving through time

There he went, around the corner, on his new moped. I remember when he was just learning how to ride a bike. Now, he can drive vehicles on his own, and he’s riding around on a different type of two wheels. It’s amazing how quickly time flies by. He’s made it clear that he’s growing up. Though he is often reminded, he still has a lot more growing to do. My oldest son. As a parent, it’s a bittersweet process to watch our children get older. One part privilege and beauty and the other part, it is hard letting go. Standing at a height well above my own, once stood a little boy reaching for my arms. Though no matter how big or how old he becomes, he will always be my son, my child. I will always be here loving him all the same, even though the dynamic may change through time.

God watches us, His children grow up and reach new heights and milestones. He’s there with us every step of the way; from our first cry, and every moment after. Though He knows that growth is a beautiful thing and age a blessing. Just as we love our children through all the stages, He is always here loving us through them all. Though even more so.

Friend, may we know that we, and especially our children, are loved through all these chapters of life, by the Creator of it Himself. As we look at our children with love, remember God, too, looks at us with love and cheers us on through our growth. Though no matter how big we can always reach our arms up to Him.

1 John 3:1 NIV
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
