Raising our children

I sat down and looked at old photos and watched old videos of my children from years ago. I listened to their little voices on the old recordings, I watched them do their silly little dances and watched them play with pure joy. They were so small, and there was a part of me longing for their littleness again. Though I look at them now and think about all the chapters that led us to today. I’m grateful for all of them and blessed to be their mom.
Both of my boys have birthdays this month. Though I celebrate and look forward to their futures, there is a part of me that longs for the days where I wasn’t just mom, I was mama. Although I remescience when they were so very small, I look forward to and am filled with hope for them and their futures. I know God has called us as parents to lovingly raise them to know His word and to nurture their faith. To prepare them so they can someday live as their own men and women, be rooted in their faith and share God’s word with others. Every year, they get closer to the day when they go from little boys to men. Though what a privilege it is to guide them, teach them, love them. Friend, our children are a gift from God, and the years go by so quickly. May we cherish every year, every chapter, preparing them to go where He leads. I look at my boys, so grown. I may miss their littleness at times, but what a blessing it is to raise them through these chapters.
