My husband and I recently got into a TV series. We were really enjoying it. Though there were some parts we didn’t agree with, overall, it was pretty good. However, as the season continued on, there were more and more things about the episodes that went against our morals and our values. It is hard to find a movie or a TV show that aligns with our faith. The closer I get with God, the more I see the corruption and sin in the things we watch and listen to. I have also realized that movies I saw as harmless or cute, held deeper agendas. Mainstream music I hear differently too. There are songs that have catchy beats, with horrible meanings. In one retrospect it feels like it’s hard to watch or listen to much, which can be frustrating. More importantly, however, it is a good thing though. Although we may have less options for entertainment that align with our faith, it’s a good reminder that we are walking with the Lord and given wisdom to protect our hearts and minds. Friend, it is easy to be swept away in entertainment that seems harmless. Though we must remember, if it doesn’t align with our morals, values, and faith, it is only filling our hearts and minds with things that are going to hinder our walk with God. May we watch and listen closely, and ask ourselves, is this something I should be watching or listening to?
