Today is Father’s Day. A day to celebrate the dad’s still here with us today, the dad’s that left wonderful memories and even the father-figures. I can’t speak from personal experience on what it is to be a dad and the feelings that encompass it. Though I can speak of the importance of a father. How when a man is a father that God calls him to be; the wonderful difference and impact it makes in the lives of his children, his family.
Personally, it is a blessing to watch my husband with this role of fatherhood. No, he doesn’t share the same DNA with our children. They don’t share his last name. But every day he shares so much of himself to be the best dad that he can be. Nurturing them, protecting them, caring for them, loving them. He comes home tired, yet still gives his time; working to ensure he gives them the best life possible. Loving me, and showing our boys what it looks like to be a good, godly man, husband and father. He leads in devotionals every night at bedtime. He corrects them when they’ve done wrong. And encourages them when they’ve done right.
I have found that in this world we need father’s; whether biological or father figures. Just as we need God, our Father, though Him even more so. God has called men to a very special calling. As men of God, as Husband’s and certainly as fathers. Today is a celebration of all the fathers still here, the ones never forgotten and the ones that have stepped up into a powerful and important role. Happy Father’s Day, you are a blessing and needed in the lives of the children you impact every day.
Happy Father’s Day!!
