He will send His angels

In the mid-1980s, when I was still just a baby, and my brother a toddler, my mom’s car broke down, on a long highway. It was just the three of us and it was cold. My mom held me close in her arms, my brothers hand held with a tight grip in hers. It would be a long cold walk, with two small children. Then, a car pulled up behind ours. A very old couple told my mom something along the lines of not to be afraid, that they had a phone and she could call for help. My mom has since stated that this older couple felt safe and peaceful, though as a young woman with small children, she was still apprehensive. Though, my mom knew she had to trust them. So, she kept my brother and I close to her, as she called my great aunt, who lived not too far away. My mom told me when she told me this story how odd it was. For very few people had car phones then. My great aunt headed out to get us, though something strange happened. My mom had no sooner hung up the phone and the car seemed to disappear. She still can’t make sense of it. Though what does make sense to her is, they must’ve been angels. I would agree. We made it home safely that night, thanks to the old couple, with a big car phone, or as we like to think, those angels. God looked out for us that night, just as He always has, always does and always will.

I believe in angels. I believe God sent those angels that day to keep us safe. I believe there have probably been many times since that God has sent angels, maybe just not always as obvious.

Friend, God is always with us, wanting us to call on Him, He will always be there, show up for us and keep us in His safety. He always keeps us close to Him, looking out for our well-being. May we trust God to always be there for us; whether in our day to day, or on a long highway, broken down and in need of rescue.

Psalm 91:11-12 NIV

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
