I don’t think that I could have been there that day. That day they nailed Jesus to that cross. I couldn’t have handled it. The way he was pierced to the cross, the way that He was tortured and bled. All of it. He was pierced for my sin, my shame; as He died an innocent man. Though in my grief for Him, I’m grateful that He did.
I can only imagine as His mother and loved ones wept. The tremendous pain and heartache. The sacrifice He made. The sacrifice God made sending His one and only Son, to die for a sinner like me. Like me, yet, He did.
I can only imagine the amount of joy to be there three days later, when Jesus rose again. To be standing at that empty tomb, only to be told, “He has risen.” Though I know the joy and gratitude that I have right now.
Today is Resurrection Day. A day filled with hope. For everything that Jesus did for us. All of it. A sacrifice given out of unconditional, unwavering, unequivocal love. So, a broken, selfish sinner like me, could be made whole and be saved from a love like that.
It isn’t about the baskets, the Easter egg hunts or the surplus of food on my plate, or just the family get together. All of those are fun and are great to enjoy. Though today is about Jesus, what He did on that cross and what He gave to us in doing so. Today is a reminder of our salvation through Jesus Christ. Please in the busyness of today friend, pause with me and let’s give thanks for the cross. Gratitude for Jesus’ sacrifice. Appreciation to God for sacrificing His Son, for our redemption. May we think of Jesus on that cross, think of that empty tomb, and the hope of Heaven for what was done on that hill on Golgotha many years ago. Then think of three days later, our hope, on that resurrection Sunday.
Happy Resurrection Day!!💜✝️❤️

“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
Luke 24:5-6 NIV
In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:
Isaiah 53:5 NIV
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
