A man sat in my chair today at the salon. I could tell that he was lonely and needed someone to talk to. He had many health issues, that were very much a struggle for him. His parents whom he was close to passed away and from the sounds of it, he didn’t have much of anyone else. It was more than a haircut; it was human connection. It was taking the time to make him feel heard, allowing him to vent and just simply talk to someone. I can’t promise that I said all the right things, but I do hope he felt better just getting it off his chest. My career is more than hair, it’s people. It’s helping their confidence with their hair, helping them feel better after we care for their hair needs, and for many, it’s human connection. Sometimes, beyond their hair, but a little bit of time to make them feel cared about. Because they are.
God says to love Him and to love people, it’s an action word. Wherever God calls us to be we are given opportunities in one way or another, to demonstrate that love. May we take every opportunity we can to do so. Just as God constantly shows His love for us, just as we love Him, we must show love to others as well. For though we especially need God, we need each other too.

Matthew 22:36-40 NIV
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
