“Dad, I’m scared, I can’t do this.” These words were fearfully said, many years ago. “Yes, you can, you’ll be fine, just keep going forward, slowly. Stay in the lane, you’re going to be just fine.” My dad’s steady, strong words of encouragement got us through that day. We had been driving down a long stretch of highway. A car up ahead was completely engulfed and smoke surrounded the whole area. I couldn’t stop and the only way out of the danger, was forward from it. So as my dad continued to encourage me forward, I cried. My foot gently on the accelerator; trusting what was on the other side. By God’s grace, my dad’s gentle, yet stern encouragement and through faith, I made it to the other side. My dad and I safely made it through the consuming smoke.
Sometimes life can feel like we’re traveling through smoke. We can’t see what’s on the other side. It can be frightening traveling through the unknown. However, if we just stay on the road ahead and trust that our Father goes with us, we can be encouraged on what is on the other side. Friend, whatever, wherever, whenever you may find yourself in the unknown, know that God goes with you. He does know what’s on the other side. For whatever it is in life we travel through, God is with us. Gently guiding, protecting and encouraging us. Most of all, loving us. Just as my dad lovingly guided me through that smoky highway, God always will guide us through all things in life. So, hang tight, you’re going to be just fine, God will get you to the other side.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
